Verulamium Museum, St Albans

Problem: 
The replacement of an unattractive escape stair and enclosure which disfigured the museum building and the important St Michaels conservation area.

Solution: 
A carefully designed circular spiral stair reduces the bulk of the newEscape stair and oak cladding enables the new escape stair to become an unobtrusive feature that blends with the surroundings.
